The B.Sc. The filmmaking course at ADYPU is designed for individuals who possess a natural aptitude for comprehending the art of storytelling through motion pictures and translating creative concepts into cinematic reality. A filmmaker, often known as a film director, plays a pivotal role in the creation, guidance, and realization of film productions. This profession offers a unique opportunity for individuals to harness their leadership qualities and innovative thinking to steer and oversee the production of significant cinematic works, encompassing major motion pictures and television films.

How will you be taught?

As the program is predominantly focused on practical learning, students will receive hands-on training to gain a comprehensive understanding of the entire filmmaking process. Approximately 75% of their time will be spent on campus, where they will acquire practical filmmaking skills, either in the Chroma studio or during on-campus shooting sessions.

The teaching methods employed will involve a blend of lectures complemented by practical demonstrations and workshops. Additionally, presentations and discussions will be integral to the learning process. To enhance their grasp of the medium of cinema, students will also participate in regular film screenings.

How you will spend your time:
  • The lectures will be conducted on campus, where students will have the opportunity to witness live demonstrations of camera and lighting techniques, as well as the entire practical filmmaking process.
  • After approximately 6-8 classes, assignments will be distributed to students through our Online ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system.
  • After each semester, students will collaborate in groups to produce a short film, which may entail interdisciplinary cooperation with other departments.
  • Every semester, two mid-term examinations and three assignments will be administered, collectively contributing to the internal evaluation that determines students’ eligibility to sit for the semester-end examination.
  • Throughout the semester, workshops will be organized by industry experts at least once a month, covering a range of topics such as writing, cinematography, direction, editing, producing, and sound design.

 

Activities for this program:
  • Students frequently attend International Film Festivals or Film Summits/Seminars whenever such events take place.
  • Students actively engage in both intra and inter-collegiate film festivals, as well as film festivals that extend beyond the college circuit.
  • As part of their involvement in the Film Club, students gather on a weekly basis to screen and engage in discussions about various films.
